Principal's Message
Hello Explorer Families!
As we are quickly approaching the new school year, I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Mera Clobes and I am excited to be stepping into the role of Principal at Balboa. My extensive teaching background and experience include many years as a middle school math and science teacher. For the last ten years, I have been at Ventura High School, six of which I served as an Assistant Principal. Beyond my professional duties, I love to hike, travel, and cook. I have 3 grown children, two of which attended Balboa. I am thrilled to be a part of the Balboa community and I look forward to meeting each of you.
Please save the date for our Back to School Night which will be held at Balboa on the evening of September 3rd, 2026. More information will be coming soon regarding the time. There are also opportunities for parents to be involved in the Balboa school community. Please consider joining our PTO or serving as a parent volunteer on our Leader In Me Lighthouse Team Guiding Coalition. Look for Parent Square announcements regarding those opportunities. I will soon send you an invitation to be part of a community book club where we will read and learn together, focusing on books that support raising and educating our students.
Thank you for partnering with Balboa as we embark on a new school year. I look forward to meeting all of our students on the first day of school on Wednesday, August 12th. I am excited to join the Balboa community and to support all of our Explorers!
