Principal's Message

Dear Balboa Middle School Students and Families,

Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year at Balboa Middle School!  Balboa is a wonderful community of diverse learners that navigate middle school together.  Balboa students benefit from outstanding teachers and staff, rigorous yet relevant learning opportunities, and a fun and engaging atmosphere.  We are excited to have you join us this year! 

This Student Handbook is a thorough document that outlines the expectations, rules, outcomes, and policies for the year.  Please review this information in its entirety, and discuss it as a family as part of your child’s plan for success.  We are optimistic that you will not only survive middle school, but THRIVE.  Our amazing staff is here to help make it happen, and we look forward to being a part of your child’s middle school years.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.  We are here to help your child have a successful experience.    

We know this age and stage well…your child might be pushing back, pursuing more independence, and taking more risks.  As parents, it can be tempting to back away.  However, we recommend that you lean IN at this time.  Your child is experiencing a period of significant emotional, physical, and social growth.  They need you now, just as always, to help guide and shape them…even if they are saying otherwise.
